PTA
The PTA is a registered charity to which all parents of pupils attending the school, are automatically members. The purpose of the PTA is twofold.
- To build relationships between home and school.
- To advance the education of pupils in school.
The PTA meets in school at least once per term. Although a voluntary group of parents and teachers agree to act as PTA trustees each year, all parents are encouraged to attend meetings and take an active role.
Currently the following members are PTA Trustees.
Fiona McLean (Chairperson)
Caroline Paterson (Secretary)
Clare Watt (Treasurer)
Nicola Black
Joanne Cooke
Laura Cuddy
Tanya McMinn
Amy Kelly
Charlotte Richardson
Mark Wilson
We have a continuous flow of funds raised through the Easyfundraising app and the clothing bank situated in Donaghmore village and encourage families and the community to use both. Details of both can be found here.
In the academic year of 2024-25 we had very successful fundraising events such as the Pre-loved Sale held in the Torrent Complex and the Spinathon at Eurospar. We also had success in securing grant funding to assist in the purchase of new ICT equipment, a hotplate, garden furniture and facilitate wellbeing sessions for every child in school. Grant funding also assisted us in the celebration of the schools 90th anniversary in September 2024.
Congratulations to the PTA who secured another donation from the ASDA Foundation. This year £750 was donated to school. This money was awarded when ASDA colleagues Amy Kelly, Gareth Gault and Stuart Richardson volunteered to sell raffle tickets at the PTA table quiz held at Dungannon Rugby Club. Many thanks to them for their support on the evening and to Janice, ASDA Cookstown Community Champion. This very generous donation to PTA funds will be used to benefit the pupils in school.
Another enjoyable table quiz was organised by the PTA and held in Dungannon Rugby Club. Many thanks to our quiz master Fergus Bain who kept teams suitably challenged and entertained, and to Gareth Gault, Amy Kelly and Stuart Richardson from Asda, who encouraged all who attended to purchase raffle tickets. Many local businesses kindly supplied raffle prices and parents provided an excellent spread for supper. The PTA raised £1145 through this enjoyable event.
